Thai VAT 7% calculator
Add VAT to a price or take it out of a total, and see the value before VAT and the tax right away. It runs in your browser and sends nothing anywhere.
What do you want to do
VAT = price before VAT × 7%, rounded to the satang
How it is calculated
- Adding VAT: multiply the price before VAT by 7% to get the tax, then add it to get the total.
- Removing VAT: multiply the total by 100 and divide by 107 to get the value before VAT. The rest is the tax.
- Round to the satang every time. The value and the tax must add up to the total exactly.
Frequently asked questions
A price of 1,070 baht includes VAT. What is it before VAT?
1,000 baht before VAT, and 70 baht VAT.
Why not just take 7% of the total to remove VAT?
Because 7% is charged on the value before VAT, not on the total. Taking 7% of the total overstates the tax. Multiply the total by 7 and divide by 107 instead.
Does a shop that is not VAT-registered add VAT?
No. A shop that is not VAT-registered cannot charge customers VAT and cannot issue tax invoices.
Let the program work out VAT on every bill
In GORINY each sale has its VAT worked out separately on every bill, tax invoices are issued, and the PP.30 report comes from the real bills in the system.
