How it is calculated
- The wage used is at least 1,650 baht. If the actual wage is lower, 1,650 baht is used.
- The wage used is no more than that year's ceiling.
- Multiply by 5% and round to the nearest baht to get the employee deduction.
- The employer contributes the same amount, and both are paid in together every month.

Frequently asked questions
How are social security contributions calculated?
Multiply the monthly wage by 5%, using a wage of at least 1,650 baht and no more than that year's ceiling, then round to the nearest baht. The employer pays the same amount that is deducted from the employee.
What is the wage ceiling in 2026 (B.E. 2569)?
From 2026 to 2028 the ceiling is 17,500 baht, so the most deducted is 875 baht a month. From 2029 to 2031 it is 20,000 baht, and from 2032 it is 23,000 baht.
Is anything deducted if the wage is below 1,650 baht?
Yes. It is calculated on the 1,650 baht minimum base, which gives 83 baht. If there is no wage at all that month, nothing is deducted.
Let the program work out contributions every pay period
Payroll on the GORINY Business plan uses the same formula as this page for every employee in every pay period, along with withholding tax and payslips.
Sources and notes
The minimum wage base and wage ceilings follow the Ministerial Regulation of B.E. 2568, published in the Royal Gazette, Volume 142, Part 81 Kor, on 12 December 2025. The contribution rate is 5% for both employee and employer. This applies to insured persons under Section 33 only, not Section 39 or 40.
